What is Books for Babies?

The Books for Babies Program gives the book Peek-a-Boo to every baby born at HCMC. Because of the diverse community we serve, we provide it in English and seven different bilingual editions: Spanish, Somali, Hmong, Oromo, French, Russian, and Ojibwe. Read more about the program in an article published by Minnesota Medicine.

Books for Babies is part of the Children’s Literacy Program (CLP), which distributes 30,000 books annually to children at HCMC from birth through adolescence. Now in its eighth year and funded through grants and donations, the CLP exists because research shows that early exposure to literacy is an important factor in a child's healthy development and success in school
