Two million brain cells die each minute during a stroke. That’s why time is of the essence during acute stroke care. Patients who come to Hennepin Stroke Center experience some of the fastest stroke treatment times in the U.S.

A “door-to-IV-tPA” time that beats the national best practice. Over the last four years, the average time elapsed between patient arrival and tPA (clot-busting drug) administration has been consistently less than the national best-practice door-to-IV time of 60 minutes.

Delivery of tPA to 17% of ischemic stroke patients. This compares with an average
of 2% of patients nationally and 11-18% in top U.S. stroke programs.
